Brazilian outfit Internacional are believed to be preparing a move for Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh.
The 28-year-old forward has fallen out of favour with the Premier League club following a disappointing 18 months spell at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite netting twice during the club’s Capital One Cup triumph over Reading, it’s believed that Arsene Wenger would be willing to offload the forward should a respectable offer be made.
The Porto Alegre-based club see him as the ideal replacement for star striker Leandro Damaio, who has been linked with a host of top European clubs, and are believed to be preparing a winter bid.
A potential stumbling block could be the Moroccan’s weekly wages, which are estimated to be in the region of £60,000-per-week.
The club may be able to afford such a figure if the Gunners accept a lower transfer fee, or subsidise his earnings for a period of time.
The likes of Tottenham, Everton, Blackburn and Espanyol have all been previously linked with a move, whilst his former club Bordeaux have had two official bids rejected.
Arsenal fought off competition from Liverpool to secure Chamakh’s signature in 2010, when he was regarded as one of the finest talents in Europe.
However, he failed to adapt to life in the Premier League, managing only a handful of impressive displays.
