Sir Alex Ferguson admits he is concerned by his side’s defensive lapses so far this season, but feels the problem will ease once a settled central partnership is formed. The Daily Express reports.
Manchester United have gone behind in six of their matches this season, losing twice- the latest defeat occurring on Saturday against Tottenham.
He said: “After the first half on Saturday I had plenty of concerns.
“You have to be concerned losing goals the way we did against Tottenham. It’s not planned but I think it will be the last.”
United have reportedly responded to the situation by repeatedly practising defensive drills at Carrington, before flying out to Romania to face CFR Cluj in the Champions League tonight.
Ferguson hopes the problem will be eradicated, once key personnel play a long run of games together.
“I hope it’s an awareness thing because we faced this situation at the end of October last season, and from then on when Jonny and Rio played together consistently we played better”, he added.
