Fulham manager Martin Jol has praised striker Mladen Petric and confirmed he would like to offer him a new contract.
The 32-year-old moved to Craven Cottage from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg last summer on an initial 12-month deal.
The Croatia international has gone on to score five goals in 19 appearances, though he has only made eight starts due to the form of fellow summer signing Dimitar Berbatov.
Despite his lack of regular action, Cottagers’ boss Jol has been impressed with Petric’s contribution.
The former Spurs boss has confirmed new contract talks with the player and his agent are imminent.
“Petric is one we would like to keep,” said the Dutchman. “He wants to play and because of [Dimitar] Berbatov he couldn’t.
“He was probably the most effective player in England – he scored goals and didn’t play a lot.”
Meanwhile goalkeeper David Stockdale could seal a permanent departure from the club in the summer.
The 27-year-old is currently on-loan at Championship side Hull and boss Steve Bruce confirmed this week that he would like to offer the ‘keeper a permanent contract should the Tigers earn promotion to the top flight.
