As reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal are struggling to keep hold of their star striker Alexis Sanchez with their latest contract offer well short of his demands to stay at the club.
What’s the word?
Alexis Sanchez is in red hot form for title chasing Arsenal but that relationship could be coming to an end after an offer from the Gunners fell short of the Chilean’s wage expectations.
According to the Mail, Arsenal are a massive £70,000 shy of the contract Sanchez wants to continue banging in the goals at the Emirates Stadium.
They reckon the striking sensation is looking for a massive £250,000 per week to stay at Arsenal with the club’s newest offer worth only £180,000.
That’s a number Sanchez could more than double in China according to the Mail. With just 18 months left on his deal Arsenal deal, the club are said to be willing to make another offer in the coming weeks.
Is he worth it?
Alexis Sanchez has banged in an incredible 14 goals so far this season, playing a massive part in Arsenal’s form that has seen them lose only two games this season.
That’s worth mega money in the Premier League and if Arsenal want to keep him they’re likely going to have to open the chequebook. We reckon the leverage is with the player in this scenario given the striker’s form so far this campaign.
He’s well on course to have his best season in an Arsenal shirt and perhaps the best season of his career. The most league goals he’s ever scored in one season was 19, for Barcelona in La Liga the year before he moved to London
It’s going to be an intriguing few weeks as the contract stalemate between the two parties continues.
